Congregation Shalom Rav
Austin's Reconstructionist and Renewal Congregation
Shalom Rav stands for inclusion, diversity, justice,
love, and the dignity of all people.
Each person is made in the image of God.
Shalom!
Congregation Shalom Rav is an inclusive, participatory, and innovative
Reconstructionist and Renewal Jewish community in Austin, Texas.
Shalom Rav chose the name “Abundant Peace” in the hope that what we do in the community as a congregation contributes to establishing peace in the world. We welcome individuals and families of diverse backgrounds and invite them to experience Judaism by exploring ancient traditions within our American context of values. We emphasize learning, prayer, history, and ritual for adults and children.
The CSR Board of Directors condemns the heinous acts perpetrated against innocent lives in Eretz Yisrael and Gaza. We stand in solidarity with the people of Israel, and support Israel’s right to defend itself in line with international law in the face of such violent and indiscriminate attacks.
We insist upon the immediate release of all who have been taken hostage.
We are heartsick and angry, but we hold steadfast to our intrinsic Jewish values of cherishing life, of love, and of peace. We pray for a swift end to this violence and for a just and long-term solution.
CSR has adopted the practice of adding to our services a selection of Psalms, a Prayer for Captives,
and a Prayer for Peace between Israelis and Palestinians, which you can view from this link.
